Lineagen’s promise to you is if your test cost is going to be >$100, you will be contacted to approve your estimated out of pocket costs before the testing is performed. Lineagen understands the financial burden for patients and families associated with health care expenses. In order to better serve our patients, the best thing we can do is provide transparency into our billing practices and your expected out of pocket costs prior to performing the ordered testing. There are no surprise bills and no unforeseen or unplanned for expenses when choosing Lineagen as your testing partner.
As part of most benefit plans with health insurers, patients agree to pay shared medical costs. These costs are referred to as “deductible” and “co-insurance”. To assist with these out-of-pocket costs, Lineagen is able to offer the following:
- Transparency: Prior to running the test, Lineagen will contact patients whose expected out of pocket expense is estimated to be >$100 for their laboratory testing.
- Prompt Pay Discount: Lineagen offers a prompt pay discount to patients who pay (in-full) within 30 days of receiving their invoice.
- Interest Free Payment Plans: Lineagen offers up to 72-month interest free payment plans (duration is determined by amount owed) to patients.
- Lineagen Care Program: Lineagen provides a financial assistance program to families who qualify. Through this program, out of pocket costs may be reduced to $300 or less for most test offerings.
What if a patient is unable to proceed with testing due to high out-of-pocket costs as required by their insurance company, or if the insurance company denies covering the test?
Lineagen’s mission is to help as many patients as possible gain access to the advanced genetic diagnostic testing that has been proven to have a significant impact on quality of life and medical management. To achieve this mission, Lineagen also provides alternative testing options for patients and families who are not able to gain access through their insurance company (insurance denies the claim) or who have high out-of-pocket costs. These options are self-pay only and utilize a whole genome testing methodology that, while different than our insurance-billed testing products, still produce clinically actionable answers to families and patients.
